Momentous changes are coming to the Old Ky Home Board of Realtors!! After more than 12 years with our current MLS provider, we are making some changes. We love our MLS provider and the great service it provides for our members and our communities in Nelson, Marion, Washington, Larue, and Hart Counties! But for years, we have wanted to increase our reach out into the state.
I remember making a file ten years ago, when I started the job as Association Executive for this impressive Board of Realtors. Inside that file were plans of other MLSs joining together to serve the members better. Over time- willing partners moved closer in conversations, in research, and in observing the changing times and needs. Finally- almost 2 years ago- Region 2 of the KY REALTORS formed a committee to gather information and to get the specifics of some form of regional data sharing MLS model.
Then, finally after hundreds of ideas, proposals and answered questions- we signed the KMA Alliance with the five boards, including twenty-eight counties and approximately 1300 Realtors. Over the past year, our KMA committee has worked tirelessly on the details, the data fixes, and the compatibility of the 5 MLSs working together while remaining independent. It has been a challenging, frustrating, and rewarding undertaking- and it all comes to fruition Monday, October 11th!
Locally, I want to give a huge thanks to Edward Seay who was President when this adventure became formal, to Steve Bagby who served on the committee, to Brent Long who served on the committee and to our current President Molly Mattingly who will preside over that changeover. We are finally at the finish line!
What does this mean to you- the public, consumer, community member? Until now- if you list your home with a Realtor- you want to find a local person who knows the area, knows the local market, and gets the best coverage of area for exposure to lots of agents- and therefore- buyers! Being a smaller board gives our members the personal service that our professionals want and deserve; but being a small MLS does not always work the same way. Therefore, many of our agents have had to join more than one MLS to get the coverage the sellers want. With this new Alliance- we can now be a smaller, more personal board- while becoming a larger MLS. The best for both members and clients!
We want to help our Realtors to continue to give our local buyers and sellers the best service available- with the best tools at our fingertips! We want to be able to access more properties for buyers, we want to be able to get every listing to more agents in our area of the state! We are doing that now!!
Change is inevitable and the world is always in a state of change, every single moment there is change happening, and now it has come to the Old Kentucky Home Board of REALTORS®! Let us serve you up a nice dish of it!
